Okay, so
are you ready to turn your iPhone into a virtual fax machine? In these days we live in it is very important
to be able to take care of business and communications on the go, and the
iPhone is the perfect tool to do so.
Simply by downloading a mobile app you can add new features and
functions to your phone.
Let’s start
by taking a look at the things we need to send fax from iPhone:
An
iPhone. This is obvious, but hey! This is
a requirement!
An email
fax service account. Email fax services
are companies that allow you to send and receive fax by email. They have revolutionized the way we look at
faxing and help us manage every document as a digital file. With each account you get a virtual fax
number that can actually grab a common fax image (coming from a fax machine)
and convert it into a digital document.
Some of these services have developed apps that sync your fax account
with your phone, so you can send faxes and receive instant notifications of incoming
ones.
An email
address. This will help you review faxes
in detail from your computer. I strongly
recommend that you create a new account that will be destined just for faxing
purposes. There’s no need in getting
fancy, I personally have my personal email account and I have added a “.fax2 at
the end to keep things as simple as possible.
Okay, so
now let’s get on to faxing. The first
step should be creating a new email fax account. So far the email fax services that have
developed special mobile fax apps are eFax, RingCentral and MyFax. But only MyFax and eFax allow you to compose
and send fax from an iPhone. Signing up with these services only takes up a couple
of minutes. If you don’t want to spend any money at first, you have the option
of entering a 30 day free fax trial, so you can test all the available apps
before making your final decision.
Once you
have your email fax account activated, you just grab your iPhone, head to the
App Store and download the app that corresponds to the service of your
choice. These iPhone fax apps are
completely free to download but in order to work you will need to enter your
account details. From there, you will have all the options available to use.
Current
iPhone fax apps are far from being perfect, but they help you take care of
basic faxing on the go. To send a fax
you can choose two methods: you can either type up the message directly on the
app, or you can use a more advanced feature: your phone’s camera. Simply snap a
pic of a document you wish to fax and the app will resize the image and
optimize it for fax delivery.
