Which Companies Let You Fax via iPhone?

The ability to fax from iPhone is here. We have finally broken free from the use of fax machines and we can now send and receive faxes anywhere, all in a convenient and digital way. The use of mobile apps has made it possible and many email fax services have started offering them to their clients.

Right now there are only a few services which offer dedicated fax apps. True, you can access most services via mobile web browser, but that’s not very fast and can be a problem in a small screen such as the iPhone’s.  Apps have been designed for ease of use and to put at your disposal at least basic faxing features that will keep you from missing a fax ever again.

Let’s take a quick look at the companies with fax iPhone apps. I have included here those that give you a free trial so you can test them from the comfort of your location before starting to pay for a monthly fax plan:

RingCentral Fax.  This company is a pioneer in the World of mobile faxing.  They started by letting you receive notifications in your phone via text messages, and now they have developed an app that allows you to receive faxes instantly on your phone.  This app can be also used with a VoIP package.

eFax.  eFax may offer a single fax plan, but it is a very powerful plan and gives you the ability to link your iPhone to your fax account.  Like other apps it can send and receive faxes and can also use the camera feature of your phone.   EFax works very fast and is very reliable.

All of these companies work along your email, so you will also receive copies of incoming faxes in your email.  They work with all types of addresses, this means that you can use it to Google fax, Hotmail and others too.  Here you will find more information.

RingCentral has created a cool new video that teaches us how to install their mobile fax app on the iPhone.  If you have problems installing their apps this is a must-watch video.  There’s nothing really difficult about it but this new technology can be pretty confusing!

Anyway, if you are ready to fax from iPhone installing this app is a great idea.  It’s the one I personally use and recommend to anyone.  You can also give it a try with the help of a free trial account, so you can leave your thoughts and impressions here.

Fax from iPhone

Are you looking for a way to send fax from iPhone? Well, let me tell you that this is possible thanks to the help of email fax services.  Over the past few years these services have expanded a lot, offering features that were impossible to have with a fax machine, among them the ability to fax from your iPhone.

You can send and receive fax using your iPhone simply by downloading a mobile app.  So far, the services that provide this option are:

  • eFax
  • MyFax
  • RingCentral Fax

You can get started with them with a 30 day free trial and check out their full features, just click on each name for more information!

To send fax with an iPhone you can simply type the message directly on the app, or you can use a more interesting alternative: take a photo of a document with your iPhone’s camera!  The apps will grab this image, optimize it and send it to ensure that the document is 100% readable.

Receiving faxes is automatic once you enter the login information on the app.  Your iPhone app and your online fax account will be synced, so forget about missing faxes ever again.

Receive Fax on iPhone

Faxing has changed a lot since it was first introduced some decades ago, especially with the arrival of digital communications.  Speed and clarity are very important factors in every communication these days, but we must not forget how important portability is.

Back in the days you needed to be next to a fax machine to receive faxes, now you can just receive fax on iPhone. There are some services that have developed special mobile apps which can help you turn your iPhone into a virtual fax machine.

To use these apps you will need to sign up for an email fax service account.  Sending a fax from iPhone requires you to have a valid fax account (the login info is entered to start using the app) with the corresponding fax service. If you don’t want to spend any money, you can open a free 30 day trial account.

Once you do that, the app will sync your iPhone to the fax account, and faxes will arrive immediately to your phone without complicated configurations.

How to Send Fax by iPhone – A Guide

Okay, so are you ready to turn your iPhone into a virtual fax machine?  In these days we live in it is very important to be able to take care of business and communications on the go, and the iPhone is the perfect tool to do so.  Simply by downloading a mobile app you can add new features and functions to your phone.

Let’s start by taking a look at the things we need to send fax from iPhone:

An iPhone.  This is obvious, but hey! This is a requirement!

An email fax service account.  Email fax services are companies that allow you to send and receive fax by email.  They have revolutionized the way we look at faxing and help us manage every document as a digital file.  With each account you get a virtual fax number that can actually grab a common fax image (coming from a fax machine) and convert it into a digital document.  Some of these services have developed apps that sync your fax account with your phone, so you can send faxes and receive instant notifications of incoming ones.

An email address.  This will help you review faxes in detail from your computer.  I strongly recommend that you create a new account that will be destined just for faxing purposes.  There’s no need in getting fancy, I personally have my personal email account and I have added a “.fax2 at the end to keep things as simple as possible.

Okay, so now let’s get on to faxing.  The first step should be creating a new email fax account.  So far the email fax services that have developed special mobile fax apps are eFax, RingCentral and MyFax.  But only MyFax and eFax allow you to compose and send fax from an iPhone. Signing up with these services only takes up a couple of minutes. If you don’t want to spend any money at first, you have the option of entering a 30 day free fax trial, so you can test all the available apps before making your final decision.

Once you have your email fax account activated, you just grab your iPhone, head to the App Store and download the app that corresponds to the service of your choice.  These iPhone fax apps are completely free to download but in order to work you will need to enter your account details. From there, you will have all the options available to use.

Current iPhone fax apps are far from being perfect, but they help you take care of basic faxing on the go.  To send a fax you can choose two methods: you can either type up the message directly on the app, or you can use a more advanced feature: your phone’s camera. Simply snap a pic of a document you wish to fax and the app will resize the image and optimize it for fax delivery.

Fax Features Brought by Email Fax Services

When email to fax services appeared, they were capable of only providing basic electronic fax functions, but today fax services are a lot more different thanks to a robust set of features that have been added over time, and well… now not a single fax machine can compete with a good service. If you don't know about the features of a fax service, let me share you some with you:

Integration with Microsoft Office. Just by installing a small program on your computer you can send a fax by pushing a button. This saves you a lot of time if you manage documents in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Fax by email. Physical faxing brought a lot of problems, but you can say good bye to them since you will be faxing from your email. Services let you send fax to Gmail account, a hotmail account or other free email account.
